Good attendance is essential to students’ achievement. Pupils who regularly miss school will find it difficult to complete coursework, keep friendships and meet their full academic potential.
We recognise that poor attendance and punctuality can have a number of causes so we work in partnership with parents/carers, pupils and the Education Welfare Officer (EWO) to make improvements.
The Academy uses an electronic registration system which means we can identify student absence very quickly.
If a student is ill, parents must notify the school and leave a message to let us know. If no message has been left and the student is not in school, we will send an automated notification to parents/carers and asking for a reason for their child’s absence.
Morning form registration
- Students arrive at their form rooms for registration at 8.45am, closing at 8.55am. Any pupils arriving later than this should report to Student Services.
- If a student receives three late marks, a letter will be sent home.
- Persistent lateness will involve contact with the EWO and parents will be invited into school.
- Registration takes place in the classroom at 12.30pm.
