Our Academy is fully committed to the welfare of every child. That is why we know how important it is to ensure the transition between every phase of school life is conducted with care and attention.
We achieve this by working in close partnership with parents, primary schools and existing staff members to ensure that every child feels confident, happy and informed about the next stage of their education.
Staff in our Science, Modern Foreign Languages and Performing Arts departments run outreach days at local primary schools to give children a flavour of secondary school life.
Year 6 students starting at the Academy in the autumn term are invited to attend special induction days at the Corndon Crescent campus. These are held in July and are designed to help pupils understand what to expect as they embark on an exciting Year 7 ahead.
For our SEND students and those who might need additional transition support, we understand that moving school can be a sometimes difficult and stressful time. We can arrange extra visits where necessary and our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) works with other key staff members to make the change as smooth as possible.
